Hassan Younes is the Co - CEO & Founder of grfn, a multi-disciplinary consultancy and has over 15 years of extensive experience in the fields of Energy Efficiency, Design, Sustainability, and Project Execution and Management. Hassan has been involved in many high-end projects in the MENA region encompassing MEP designs, energy efficiency, commissioning management , sustainability and measurement and verification for new and existing buildings in the MENA region. He also was involved in energy and sustainability policy studies for many governmental entities in the GCC.
He is a trainer for the ASHRAE Global Training Centre. He is a trainer for the Association of energy engineers’ Certified Energy Manager ( CEM) course, Energy Valuation Organization’s Certified Measurement Verification Professional (CMVP) course and the facilitator for the Emirates Green Building Council Building Retrofit Program. He is an appointed Consultant for ASHRAE 62.1 Standard and is a member of the training committee for the CMVP course.
He is also the current ASHRAE Falcon Chapter president and on the technical committee and was the Vice Chair of CIBSE Regional Chapter. Hassan holds all the ASHRAE certifications.

In early 2021, Mario joined Cundall as the Head of Sustainability MENA to shape the company’s business in the region as it rises to meet increased demand for sustainable and net zero carbon solutions. Mario has successfully directed turnkey high-profile projects across the MENA region including the Dubai Expo 2020 UAE Pavilion, SABIC HQs in Saudi Arabia, Meydan One Mall in Dubai, Bahrain Airport new terminal building, and the Lebanon Waterfront City.
Mario currently holds around fifteen years of diversified regional experience across various sectors including Low and Net Zero Carbon design and construction, project management, operations, planning, trainings and contracts administration. His passion for this field led him to acquire several international accreditations, notably being a USGBC Faculty, LEED AP, ESTIDAMA PQP, BREEAM International Assessor and GSAS Certified Green Professional.
Prof. Kheira Anissa Tabet Aoul
Professor & Chair - Architectural Engineering - UAE University
Dr. Kheira Anissa Tabet Aoul is a sustainability professional, Architecture and Building Science Professor, and currently Head of the Architectural Engineering Department, at the United Arab Emirates University. She draws from 30 years of international academic and professional experience in USA, North Africa and the Middle East. She is engaged in education and practice-based research focusing on advancing the design and execution of a sustainable, socio-culturally sensitive built environment in hot climatic zones. High Performance buildings, building integration technology and human factors in the built environment are her major areas of expertise and research interest. In 2019, Prof. Tabet Aoul was appointed as Director of ZEMCH Network (www.ZEMCH.org) UAE regional center, and serving as the Chair of ZEMCH 2021 International Conference in UAE. She has a strong record of accomplishment in providing the necessary expertise in Sustainable Design and Green Building Practices, in both professional and educational environments. Outcomes include extensive publications, Editorial roles, successful supervision of Masters and PhDs and leading major interdisciplinary consulting and research projects in UAE and internationally. Kheira holds a PhD in Building Science from Sheffield University (UK). She is a LEED Accredited Professional and Green Advantage Certified (USA).
Ahmed Samir Elbermbali
Managing Director - Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC) MENA
Ahmed Samir Elbermbali is the Managing Director of the MENA Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting clean energy and clean technologies and solutions MENA Region. CEBC provides a platform to further dialogue between the public and private sectors to develop much needed policy and regulation to help drive the implementation of clean energy across the MENA region. Ahmed joined CEBC in 2018 and the youngest Managing Director to hold this position in the history of CEBC.
He is very active in bringing together the industry stakeholders from across the private and public sectors in the different MENA countries together to accelerate the policy maturity for clean energy in the region.
His research interest are in the intersection between policy, technology and consumer behavior to accelerate the transition to clean energy and sustainable mobility sectors. Ahmed holds MBA in Sustainable Mobility management from the Technical University of Berlin.
